I had breakfast at Mitzo, Grand Park Orchard Hotel‘s indoor restaurant and bar. It was an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. Check out their offerings:
I had some bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, rice, and coffee. I also sampled their smoked salmon. What a way to start my second (2nd) day in Singapore!
Later, I crossed the street going to Mandarin Orchard Hotel, where the health insurance seminar was going to be held on that day and the following day (March 21). After the morning sessions, lunch was hosted by Asia Insurance Review, the organizer of the seminar. Here’s the menu:
After the afternoon sessions, I went back to my hotel to rest for a bit. I had planned to meet up with my musician friend’s wife, Mercy, who agreed to show me around that evening.
I saw this yellow race car that was parked just outside the hotel:
Mercy and I met up at the Mandarin Gallery shopping mall. We had dinner early at Tonkatsu by Ma Maison. This is what I ordered:
This was just a beautiful piece of tonkatsu. Crunchy on the outside and tasty inside. The pork was very tender. The shredded cabbage, when dressed with some sesame dressing, really goes well with the tonkatsu and rice.
After eating, we took the train…

It was getting late, so it was time to go home. I was told that Singapore was a relatively small city, so I had this crazy idea to walk home from Timbre to my hotel. Before going our separate ways, Mercy told me that although its a far walk, it is possible to walk all the way to Orchard Road from Timbre. And so I did.

When I got to Orchard Road, I was tired and hungry. So I stopped for a bowl of laksa at Juz Food Court, a hawker center located at the corner of Orchard Road and Cavenagh Road:
This bowl of laksa was wonderful. The broth was really thick, creamy and tasty. It was a little bit spicy, which was great. The bean sprouts were still crunchy and the noodles were silky smooth. The spongy tofu absorbed the broth well, making it very tasty as well.
Although the laksa really hit the spot, I was still a little hungry. So I walked over to a food stall at the intersection of Koek Road and Kramat Road for this plate of mee goreng pattaya:
The mee goreng pattaya was a bit too spicy for me, but still very tasty. The seafood flavor really works well with the heat of the saucy noodles and the saltiness and savoriness of the scrambled egg that blankets the whole dish.
After finishing this plate of mee goreng pattaya, I took the short walk back to my hotel. When I got to my room, I slept totally satisfied. The day was long, but amazing.
